On Thursday October 3 at ADX venue (Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Mogliano Veneto), you can attend a whole day of 2-hour sponsored workshops for free for all ADX attendees. CORONA RENDERER

Improve your skills with
the new features of
Corona Renderer 4 and 5!

Corona Renderer 4 and 5 come with many new features and workflow improvements. In this workshop, Marcin will show you how to light your scenes with multiple suns and environments; select objects and pick DOF right in the VFB; use caustics, the fisheye lens, and different denoisers; and introduce you to the new features in Corona Renderer 5.

Marcin joined the team behind Corona Renderer in early 2015, right before the release of Corona Renderer 1.0. Currently he is watching over Corona Renderer technical support where he makes sure the helpdesk portal is up to date and users are provided with high-quality technical help. He is also one of the Corona Academy speakers. Marcin is known as Maru on the Corona forum, where he is an active user since 2012.

As more and more Archviz companies start prototyping with real-time technologies, this talk aims to give you a good idea of the possibilities of this uncharted territory and how it can benefit you and your clients.

Adding Life to Venice: Anima from A to Z  & Exploring the new Anima© tools

We will introduce Anima© software and explain the basic steps to start generating a realistic crowd. The goal will be to populate an area of venice with walking people, talking people standing and sitting.During the workshop we will go step by step discovering the main tools and some tricks to quickly understand the application.


We will show all the available possibilities to render Anima© scenes either using offline renderers or real time applications. 3ds Max + Vray and Unreal Engine will be the main tools used.
We will also introduce some new technologies we have been working on to help artist populate with more realistic crowds and 3d people their architectural visualizations.

He has worked on everyday projects like architectural visualisations receiving several awards and nominations for his work or military training videos for the Spanish Army. But also, many more unusual ones which tended to share one common denominator: they involved tasks others could not, or did not, dare to do. He also collaborates on other third-party projects for companies like SolidIris (Thea Render) and makes custom software for others like AXYZ design (anima),
packages for being sold in the Motiva’s store like Colimo or Real Perception and more recently the formerly named MUS that has been renamed to Datasmith after being acquired by Epic Games.

SUBStance designer

Create custom material for both ray trace pipeline (3DSmax/Corona) and realtime (UE4)

In this workshop, Nicolas will first show how to create a fully procedural material from scratch & from pictures in Substance Designer. He will also give you his best practices for pattern creation.

Nicolas will then take you into the creation of custom filters for Project Substance Alchemist, which he will then use to create libraries of materials dedicated to his scene.

Finally, he will give you some tips and tricks to leverage Substance materials in a UE4 scene for the most lifelike render.

Nicolas has been a Substance specialist since its very beginning (he joined Allegorithmic in 2005). He is a highly technical artist with a drive to constantly innovate, like he has done with Substance Designer; a product that he has managed for several years.

V-Ray ray tracing in real-time: from start to finish

This workshop will cover a complete workflow to transfer a V-Ray scene between 3ds Max and Unreal Engine.

Chaos Group CG Specialist Valentin Yovchev will show you how to optimize your materials and textures, export your assets using Datasmith and VRScene, and then import them into Unreal Engine. You will have the chance to see the product’s powerful capabilities, including VFB and Viewport rendering with V-Ray inside Unreal, light baking and post-process effects. 

At the end of the session, Valentin will share some advanced V-Ray for Unreal tips and tricks that will improve your existing workflows. Finally, he will give you a taste of the latest developments from Chaos Group’s labs.

Valentin has over 15 years of experience in the CG industry, including a four-year stint at Gameloft. He’s worked on videogames, VFX and character design in Bulgaria, Romania and Spain, and freelanced for companies around the world. Valentin is an expert on software including 3ds Max, Zbrush and, of course, V-Ray.

Blueprints, interaction and realtime ray tracing:
build a material picker for your VR projects

Through this workshop, you’ll learn how to start to work with the Unreal Engine blueprint system and how to improve your VR / First-person Archviz experiences.
The SOA Academy team will guide you, sharing a test project, in a step by step lesson to create a smart material picker you can use to let your clients customize their apartments.

Teacher and Head of R&D at SOA Academy

Roberto’s passion for graphics shaped his education and led him to become a Web Designer and then 3D Artist. In his work experience, he moved on working in the Computer Graphics for Architecture. Together with Gianpiero and Manuela, in 2009 he set up SOA.

Roberto is now working at SOA Academy as a teacher specialized in the use of Adobe Photoshop, which recognized him as a certified expert, Unreal Engine and Substance Designer.
